Lolo Ninoy's Camera needs to be cleaned

So this was found in Times and I asked my Mom if I could keep it. She said yes. Yehey! So anyway, I need to have this cleaned. :( It's pretty old and it was my Lolo Ninoy's camera. I'm not sure if he used this to cover the war in Korea. Probably not. But nonetheless, he was a photo enthusiast.

I started with basic photography last year and I got a Canon G10. I'm really not into the whole SLR thing yet. But anyway, here are some pics I took of my Lolo's camera. :)

So please please comment if you know where I can have this cleaned. It would be very very much appreciated!!!

this is sweet!!!!

i agree with Carleen, you might find a very competent camera cleaner in Hidalgo.

although, maybe you can ask Canon if they can clean it for you even if it is not a Canon brand, they charge naman a fee for cleaning.

wow! a vintage leica! these were made c. late 60s-early 70s. awesome find! might cost a bit to get it cleaned. repairs alone could cost up to $250 USD.. you'll definitely enjoy the camera jiggy. :D

I am a friend of your lolo hermie aquino.

given the intrinsic and historical value of your heirloom piece, Please do not bring the Leicaflex to Hidalgo.

Yes, do consult Jay Javier, as suggested by donBagsit. If Jay cannot fix it for you, ask him about Panda Camera Repair Shop located at Stanley Street in HK. We just had 2 Leica M3 and a Leica M4P repaired, cleaned, adjusted and lubricated there.

We are willing to help ypu revive, enjoy and preserve your heirloom, for free, not strings attached. A little favor compared to what your Lolo Ninoy and Lola Cory has done for the country.

If you wish to talk about this further, ask your Lolo Hermie to contact me.

Hello. Whatever you do please do not take it to Hidalgo! They are unreliable, especially with Leica cameras. This is one treasure that you would not want to risk. If you want to check if there's film, make sure you do it inside a changing bag.

What ever you do, do NOT take this gem to Hidalgo. They will take any opportunity given to them to cannibalize a camera while "cleaning" it. Instead, google up and look for Jay Javier. He's the one person you should trust to evaluate the camera (and to check if film is still present inside and process what could be iconic photographs).

Cheers

The WORST that can be DONE is to send the camera to Hidalgo. Where does the myth that anything old (ie,cameras) can be, and should be, sent to Hidalgo?
