Being tested

The past few weeks have been really tough on me. In all aspects. At one point, I thought that it was just too damn unfair.

But the past few days... I don't know, there was a turnaround. It's like I woke up and forgot about all the bad things. I actually forgot. Being busy helps plus you have your friends to back you up. It's pretty amazing. The saying "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" is pretty spot on!

I felt like I was being tested. It looks like I passed :)

A friend of mine noticed it today.

There IS something different and I don't know what it is. I guess I'm happy again :)

Well... That's for another day. :D

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

I know that there a lot of mixed reviews with this movie but I loved this movie. It was pure entertainment. It's not perfect but I still loved and enjoyed this movie a lot. It helps if you grew up with the 80's cartoons.

I watched with some friends opening day and I watched again Friday night. It just shows how much of a Fanboy I am. There were several geek moments in the movie so if you haven't seen it. Spoilers ahead.

The opening scene was the coolest part of the movie for me because it was all Autobot action!!! They were in Shanghai hunting Decepticons. Plus you have the Autobots fighting alongside the US Military. The best parts of the sequence was Sideswipe cutting Sideways in half. (They should have shown Sideswipe some more. His scenes were just too short man... We want more robots!!!) The other one was Optimus Prime jumping of an airplane and parachuting down! The chutes even had Autobot logos. Awesome!

Optimus Prime fighting 4 Decepticons single handedly was amazing. It was the best. You have THE greatest robot of all time fighting for the right thing. He's a friggin PRIME!!! Though he got "killed" by Megatron, I sort of knew that he was gonna come back because it was just halfway through the movie. Though you still that inner child being sad seeing him "die" and then you remember the 80's movie where he "died" too. Thank God they didn't put Hotrod in the movie. Because I didn't like the whole Rodimus Prime bit. Hotrod is cool but Rodimus sucks man... Sorry. I will always be an Optimus Prime fan. Using Peter Cullen's voice was an excellent move. He's f'n Optimus Prime yo!!!

The other geek moment was when Jetfire shared to Sam the solution for bringing Optimus Prime back to life. 3 words. Matrix of Leadership!!! My jaws dropped. Literally. I was in Fanboy heaven!!! They put it in!!! I loved it!!!

Other pros of the movie. MEGAN FOX. Need I say more? Ok, maybe one more bit. The slow mo scenes of Megan Fox was FAN. TASTIC. Thank you Michael Bay. Soundwave's original voice was used. Ravage was awesome. Devastator!!! Love the Constructicons!!! Bumblebee rocked the house yet again!!! Agent Simmons was cool this time around and Shia LaBeouf was being himself. I loved the witty jokes and the girly screams. Hahahaha.

The Decepticons just proved that they have better operations. They executed their plans very well... But you just can't beat Optimus Prime!

CONS of the movie. They removed too many Optimus and Bumblebee scenes. Plus the new robots, Skids and Mudflap sucked big time! They were absolutely annoying!!! Talk about the newest Jar Jar Binks... I wanted more Autobots that are cooler! Jolt didn't have any scenes! Sideswipe had what? One line? Ugh... Too many Decepticons... Ironhide and Ratchet didn't do shit! What's up with that? Sam's Mom was also trying to be funny but wasn't. They also should have brought back Anthony Anderson and that Aussie girl back for the sequel. There were also jokes that were out of place... Way too out of place... But the scrotum bit was pretty funny. And the Fallen being able to do Ninja-like moves was out of place too...

On top of the cons, the movie still rocked. Transformers will give you that suspense and thrill. It will give you oohs and aahs. Your jaws will drop with the amazing effects and the story will keep you at the edge of your seat.

1 or 2? It's a toss up. But I kinda have more complaints with the 2nd. So Transformers 1 will be my pick if I had to choose.

Have a fellow geek seated next to you when you watch this! You'll enjoy it more!!! :)

So hurry up and Roll Out now!!! Watch it already!!!

Belated Happy Birthday to Mr. Harvey Tolibao

My very first sketch from a comic book artist :) Harvey just used a ballpen with this one and it absolutely looks FANTASTIC!!!

All the fanboys out there, please please check out Harvey Tolibao's work. THEY'RE AWESOME!!! Should he have a signing again, you have to go meet him. All my friends who've met him say he's the coolest and funniest!

There was this one Ultimate Cap sketch he did. He put an iPod on Cap's belt. Hahahaha. And he gave me a surprise when he put my Lolo Ninoy in a coffee mug on Avengers: The Initiative!

Belated Happy Birthday Mr. Tolibao!!! Keep on rockin the world!!!

UAAP Begins real soon!

It's that time of the year again.

I can already feel the atmosphere. I can hear the drums beating already...

July - September is the time of the year wherein I change into this diehard fan of the Blue Eagles. I cannot wait til the opening tip off!

It's that time where my friends from other schools really don't get me... Only the Ateneans understand. July - September, life revolves around Basketball.

Nothing compares to the UAAP. Not the PBA, not the NBA. It's different. You get to see your batchmates from school and it's pretty cool! You feel younger when watching a game.

Sigh... I cannot wait :)

Letting go of my baby... :(

A few minutes ago, I saw my baby (my car) drive away from me...

It was a painful experience.

After 4 1/2 years...

I named the Mazda 3 Nathan since I really loved One Tree Hill that time. I remember bringing Nathan to the org movie premiere, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. That was the first time I brought him out.

He was the car that brought me to school, brought me to work, brought me to places. It was where a girl became a girlfriend of mine. It was where I had played great music. It was where I felt free. It was where I felt like Batman driving his Batmobile. It was where I felt like Speed Racer driving the Mach 5, (because of the buttons in the steering wheel).

It was my baby. A man shares a great relationship with his car...

But it was time to let go... Nathan got sick 2 weeks ago. And it was getting bad. I had him repaired. I also didn't have good memories. It was where I broke up with my ex... It was where I had a couple of fights. I had to let go.

I took care of Nathan with great care. We had the most amazing adventures :) A lot wonderful people rode in Nathan :) Good times! And some not so wonderful people... Oh well. Nate's a good sport anyway.

Now, I'll just choose to remember the great times and not the sad ones.

Nathan, I love you. Godspeed! Serve your new master well...

No car can ever replace you.

See you around Nate! Thanks for the awesome times and great memories!

Wow... letting go. I may actually get used to this.

Disney Writers are the best!

I just finished watching Hercules on Disney Channel and it will always be my favorite Disney movie of all time.

Anyway, the development of Herc and Meg in the movie was like... WOW!

When you watch a movie over again, you kinda get new ideas and perspectives. Just a while ago, I realized that the writers must have gone through several life changing experiences in their love life. There were pretty witty lines and some were pretty brutal.

OK, if you haven't seen Hercules, spoilers ahead.

Stop reading now. Skip to the break.

Hercules in the scene realizes that he's not so alone when Meg's there.

"Meg, when I'm with you, I don't feel so alone..."

Meg then replies... "Sometimes it's better to be alone because when you're alone, no one can hurt you." (Since she sold her soul to Hades to save her previous boy-toy and the boy-toy found someone else)

The other line was when Hercules found out that Meg was lying... He lost his "powers" and a Titan comes to Thebes to fight him.

Meg says sorry then asks him not fight. "You could get killed!'

Herc replies "There are worse things..."

YOWZA!!! I friggin love it!!! Hahahahaha!!! The writers are spot on correct damn it!!! Woohoo!!! Hahahaha!!!

But the cheesiest and probably best line of the whole movie is "People do crazy things when they're in love..."

Hercules doesn't feature a Disney Princess as a lead. It's this immortal who turned mortal and he's on earth trying to find where he belongs.

I can relate this to a Superman story where he has foster parents. He's on earth to "help people" plus he's called a freak by his peers during his teenage years. Smallville-esque.

Other than that, Herc's a pretty relatable character because he's after a dream. Aren't we all after something in this world?

We may not get what we want the most but you go through things, life-changing moments, that bring out the best in you.

So yeah, rock on Disney! Hahahaha!

"Sorry, we're closed. Come in, we're open!"

No more angst. No more hatred.

What's done is done.

I got all the answers but I guess one can't really understand all the answers right away.

You may not like it but you come to a point wherein you just have to accept reality. This is how it was written. This is how it's supposed to be. There is a reason for everything. That's the mystery and beauty of life.

I did everything. I mean, EVERYTHING. I gave it my very very best shot. But it wasn't enough. I guess I'll be thankful to know that at least I did everything right?

Will I regret some things? Some things yes, everything no.

When the thing you're most afraid of happens, it doesn't become that. It was the anxiety and paranoia that drove me crazy, but in the end, you expected it to happen so you were actually prepared for it. It validated the point of why I was scared in the first place.

End of the day, there's always one who sacrifices. One's loss is someone's gain.

Things really don't turn out the way you want them to be. But like I said, things happen for a reason.

You see a door closed on the left while another one's open on the right.

I'd like to end with a story.

Once upon a time there were two roads being built side by side . They were parallel at everything. They came across bumps, holes, slippery roads. They were going through all the challenges that were being thrown at them. They thought that they can get through anything. But one day, the two roads couldn't be side by side anymore. There was a road block. So a fork had to be built. The two roads had to say goodbye to each other since their paths were not to meet anymore... They had great times but there had to be an end...

"I thought... I assumed... (Akala ko...)"

Moral of the story... just go with the flow. Don't expect. Don't assume.

Let me slip away...

So turn up the corners of your lips, part them and feel my fingertips trace the moment for forever.

Defense is paper thin just one touch and I'd be into deep now to ever swim against the current so let me slip away...

Vindicated. I am selfish. I am wrong. I am right I swear I'm right. Swear I knew it all along and I am flawed. But I am cleaning up so well. I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself.

Slight hope. It dangles on a string. Like slow spinning redemption.

Spider-Man 2 - BEST. MOVIE. EVER.

I like how they treat the soundtrack as Music from and INSPIRED BY Spider-Man.

If you could change one thing that you regretted, would you change it?

You wouldn't learn from it though.

You wouldn't know that you were right all along...

So what's it gonna be? :)

What the world doesn't need...

I was watching HBO the other night and I caught License to Wed.

Robin Williams was a Reverend who was out of this world. He had this Sunday School game about the 10 commandments. "Covet? Don't Love it!", "It ain't fly to lie!", "Keep it real, don't steal"

It was pretty funny.

Anyway, it got me thinking, the movie was about these 2 people who were about to get married and there was full of distrust and anxiety...

Point is, the world doesn't need liars. The truth may hurt at times but it will definitely set you free. Believe me, lying won't do any good... Seriously.

What has lying brought in this world? I'm sure it broke so many relationships, businesses, friendships, marriages, etc...

Was it the first sin committed? Adam and Eve lying to God? Maybe...

Think about it. Did you ever realize that everything you believed in was a lie?

Remember the Matrix?

So consider this as a public service announcement.

It's simple yet true. The world really doesn't need LIARS. Honestly... we don't need them.

So continue spreading truth from now on!

Do the true thing. Always.

Liars? Ugh...

May they repent and seek the truth.

Cool Pics

I have a thing for these types of pictures... they're just... awesome!

The Immortal Weapons from the Iron Fist book.

Fat Cobra, Bride of Nine Spiders, Dog Brother #1, Prince of Orphans and Tiger's Beautiful Daughter.

I really think that Brubaker and Fraction were in some other planet when they thought of these names. Love em!

See all the other characters looking down? NEATO!

Hope they make a Deadpool spinoff.

Mirror images of the voyagers of the ship, ENTERPRISE.

Live long and prosper!

I want to see this movie... NOW NA!

Boy meets Girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn't.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and ZOOEY Deschanel (love her!!!) actually look good on screen. It's a good plot :) Tom fell in love with Summer. And he's telling the story.

Summer just ended it. JUST. LIKE. THAT.

Yup... just like that.

There's this line towards the end about getting over... See it for yourself.

Will definitely see this.

Peter Parker: Spider-Man #29

One of my favorite Spidey-MJ covers.

I'm not a Gundam fan, but this is just way too friggin awesome!!!

OK, I'm not gonna "pose" as a an Anime fan but being a geek, this is just way too awesome. Japan actually made a life-size RX-78! Its head even f#$%ing moves!!! How cool is that???

But it doesn't walk or shoot lasers. It can't destroy Japan.

It's for the 30th anniversary of "GUNDAM"

I would love to see this in person...

Imagine a real life Voltes V? or a real life Voltron or Ramrod? Or a Bio Robo? Or a Megazord!!!

Damn. Now those would be awesome too...

"Stop staring at me people... I swear, I will shoot you all!"
"My rockets better be clean Gundammit!"

"Now where's Godzilla??? Bring it!!!"

Excited for my friends :)

It's nice to see my friends feeling the love!

They even ask me for advice! Me? Wow! I was pretty honored.

So I have 3 friends who I cannot name. 2 girls and 1 guy.

The 1st girl is a very dear friend. I feel for her because of the uncertainty. I simply told her to just go with the flow and not expect. Whatever she hears from other, take it with a grain of salt. But I'm praying that things turn out for the best.

The 2nd girl is going out with the guy. She says that they're "friends" but c'mon!!! It's way too damn obvious. She's denying a lot of things. Advice I gave her, "don't lead the guy on... he's a very good guy and he doesn't deserve the hurt, it's obvious that he cares for you deeply. Make sure you know what you want."

The guy doesn't need advice and yet he comes to me and asks for an opinion. I said, just continue what you're doing but don't overdo it!

It's pretty amazing actually. I can see how love works. It's very mysterious. It's patient and impatient at the same time. But it's what makes these friends of mine so damn happy!!! It's nice to know love still exists around me. :)

Make me proud guys!

Recommendations anyone?

I don't know how many Fanboys read my blog.

There are a few guys who have been commenting on my posts and I really do appreciate it very much.

I know I've been talking a lot of mainstream and a bit of indies. I'm looking for more indies and a bit of DC actually, or am I missing out on a Marvel comic? For local ones, where can I find TRESE? Wanna read it badly!!!

If you have any recommendations for comic books, leave me a post :) I'd greatly appreciate it!

The Spidey-MJ tandem

Marvel's EIC, Joe Quesada was very vocal that the marriage of Peter and MJ was "destroying" Spider-Man. Marvel then announced the final story arc of J. Michael Stracynszki in Amazing Spider-Man called "One More Day" and it was to be drawn by Quesada himself. So in 2008, Peter and MJ's marriage was removed from continuity in order to save Aunt May. Mephisto/ the devil, promised to save Aunt May's life in exchange for Peter and MJ's love. Why? Because the love between Peter and MJ was a unique one. It wasn't like any other love... So Peter agreed but MJ made a separate deal with Mephisto just to make sure it wouldn't backfire. It wasn't said in the story but I believe that Peter forgets everything but MJ remembers.

So thus Brand New Day.

And now, Amazing Spider-Man #600 is coming up in a few weeks. And it's supposed to be HUGE. It's the return of Mary Jane!!!

Here's a preview of #601

I've always been a fan of Peter and MJ. They've been through EVERYTHING! It's nice to see how the story will unfold now. Will Marvel correct the mistake???

It's really awesome that Marvel puts that human touch to it. There's this element of sacrifice involved for a loved one. I can imagine MJ feeling bad that Peter doesn't remember anything while she remembers everything! It's so brilliant! The people who you love the most can actually be the ones to hurt you the most! It's genius! \m/ Rock on Marvel!

I can't wait to see how the story goes! But I've said it before and I'll say it again. Spider-Man and Mary Jane forever!!!

Batman and Robin #1

Is this my first DC book of the week?

I think it is. Just because Ultimate Spider-Man sucked so bad...

This is the first issue of Batman: Reborn. Thing is, I didn't read "Battle for the cowl". But to cut the story short. Dick Grayson is the new Batman and Damian Wayne is the new Robin. While Tim Drake is now Red Robin.

I have to say that this issue was a pleasant read. It was very entertaining. You have a more quiet Batman and a more vocal Robin. Basically the personalities are reversed.

It basically sets up the new world of Batman. It sets up the new dynamic duo and it's a good change. I thought that it would be a rip off from Captain America where the sidekick dawns the new mantle. But this is a pleasant surprise for me. It's a good superhero issue. No holy shit moments though. Morrison also introduces a new villain named Pyg. It's like leatherface with a pig mask. If this were a movie, I'd be terrified of Pyg.

The new Robin I found obnoxious... Damian's a little bitch. But it's cool! It's good character balance. He had a line that said "That'd be all Pennyworth". What a little bitch! I found it funny.

Frank Quitely's art was pretty awesome too. It's like All-Star Superman in a way. The team of Grant and Frank's a good combo. I like it.

After 3 issues, a good man will take over the art. Mr. Philip Tan!!! He is like one of THE nicest and coolest guys out there! Really happy for him that he got the assignment. I've worked once with Mr. Tan and he is absolutely a terrific guy! A gentleman's gentleman! I have yet to meet him in person. My brother said he worked with the big names in DC. Johns, Morrison, and Rucka. He has yet to work with Mark Waid I think.

The only thing I don't know if the next issues will arrive on time. If there's one thing I hate in comics... I HATE DELAYS!!!

My brother loved it. He even commented on my facebook that Batman > Spider-Man.

Yeah right... like that'll ever happen! I was like TRUTH: Jiggy > Jonty. But he's entitled to his opinion. Me? Spidey > All superheroes.

Anyway, I'll give this one to the "Distinguished Competition"... pick this one up. You'll go bats if you don't!

Meaning nothing, and not knowing why

From one of the most underrated bands of all time - Vertical Horizon

Everything you want

Somewhere there's speaking
It's already coming in
Oh and it's rising at the back of your mind
You never could get it
Unless you were fed it
Now you're here and you don't know why

But under skinned knees and the skid marks
Past the places where you used to learn
You howl and listen
Listen and wait for the
Echoes of angels who won't return

He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you
And you don't know why

You're waiting for someone
To put you together
You're waiting for someone to push you away
There's always another wound to discover
There's always something more you wish he'd say

But you'll just sit tight
And watch it unwind
It's only what you're asking for
And you'll be just fine
With all of your time
It's only what you're waiting for

Out of the island
Into the highway
Past the places where you might have turned
You never did notice
But you still hide away
The anger of angels who won't return

I am everything you want
I am everything you need
I am everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
I say all the right things
At exactly the right time
But I mean nothing to you and I don't know why
And I don't know
I don't know

There will be some questions in life that can never be answered. I thought I'd never get the answer. But I did :) People are capable of anything. I mean anything. You'll be surprised what the important people in your life are capable of. And sometimes, they can hurt you pretty bad. But at least you got the question answered right?

The Truth can really hurt you real bad. But would you rather live a lie?

But seriously, I feel so much better now :) I know I'm the better one.

Happy Birthday Mr. President? Hahahaha

I wasn't fortunate enough to grab a copy of this rare GQ Magazine but there's a lucky guy who has a copy of it.

Currently it's still June 7, but he'll probably read this on his birthday.

Maligayang kaarawan Marino!!! Hahahaha!!!!

Ultimate Spider-Man #133 and Amazing Spider-Man #600

So I'll first show my disappointment with USM #133. This was "the end" of Ultimate Spider-Man and Bendis was given this difficult and crappy task given by Jeph Loeb to "cap off" the series. This was due to ULTIMATUM.

So here you have the mask of Spidey lying in the gutters... The issue was a silent issue... No dialogue, not even sound effect text. Spidey wasn't even in it.

It was a bad bad bad bad last issue for a great Spidey title. I mean... WTF?

This is MY FAVORITE book! I don't get it! Ugh... I hate you Loeb!

Anyway, I saw Bendis' twitter page and he tweeted that this isn't the end of Ultimate Spider-Man. Next month, there'll be Ultimate Spider-Man: Requiem.

We'll see how it leads to "Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #1"

Bendis... I trust you.

Don't leave Spidey lying in the gutters because that's just wrong!

Don't drop him like a hot potato!!!

This is an awesome cover by Alex Ross. It's a cover with shades of Red!!! I totally love it!!! But my only question is why are there more than 4 Doc Ock tentacles???

Here's another teaser of Amazing Spider-Man #600

I love the tease with the "son" and "Parker" covered by the mask.

But guess what! It ain't Watson and Parker!!! It's Jameson and Parker. Newsflash, Aunt May is in love with J. Jonah Jameson's daddy!!! Yeeech.

But cool teaser. I love it how Marvel plays with Spidey's mask!

Shit happened again... Damn it!

I was driving last night through the damn traffic and when I was near home, in the Robinsons area, my car friggin stops accelerating!

WTF???? Seriously????

AT lights in the dashboard and there was something terribly wrong with the transmission...

I was travelling at 15kph in Edsa. People were honking at me. I felt so bad... My beloved car was letting me down. He was sick from something and I didn't know what to do...

He's now at the dealer... getting diagnosed... But I really really hope that the transmission is ok... I don't have the dough to have it fixed... Shit...

There has to be some good that will come to my life soon...

It has to be real friggin soon... Ugh...

Yoda got it right!!!

Fear leads to Anger.

Anger leads to Hate.

Hate leads to Suffering...

How feel you?

My reply... Cold!

Speaking of Star Wars, what I would like to do is join the friggin 501st Legion...

I need a Stormtrooper outfit first though.
