AND WE HAVE A NEW #1 COMIC FOR 2009!!!

Folks, after reading the comic, I immediately logged on to Blogger because finally!!! After so many months... Wolverine #70 just got beat!!!

We have a new #1 Comic for 2009 and I think it'll be hard to beat this issue...

WOLVERINE: OLD MAN LOGAN GIANT SIZE

What can I say? Mark Millar and Steve McNiven ABSOBLOODYLUTELY brought the hiz-ouse down with this story! BEST. WOLVERINE. STORY. EVARRRR!

I don't care if this book was loooong delayed. Totally totally worth it!!! No wonder it took long, McNiven gave a masterpiece page after page with the glorious details!!!

There were several pages where you can't help but shout "WHUUUUUUUUT????"

WOW. WOW. WOW. LOVED EVERY PAGE!!!

The only sad part of this story... IT ENDED!!!

I just have so much respect for Logan now... I wasn't really a Wolvie fan but Millar made it clear that you don't mess with Mr. Berzerker Barrage!!!

I really can't dwell onto the details because I don't wanna spoil it. But if you're a comic book fan or want to start reading, pick up the collected edition of Old Man Logan. I promise you, YOU'LL NEVER LOOK AT WOLVERINE THE SAME WAY AGAIN!!!

Mr. Millar and Mr. McNiven both deserve a loooooooong standing ovation from all comic book fans. Seriously.

PICK THIS BOOK UP PEOPLE.

Nuff said.

BACK IN THE FINALS!!!

An Ateneo Blue Eagle post. Non-Ateneo fans, you can just skip this :)

==============================================

Coming into the game today, I was a bit nervous because UST could just pull an upset... But thankfully, despite the horrible calls, the team pulled it off.

I thought it was a total team effort. Everyone did their roles! Did you see Eric Salamat??? How many steals did that guy have??? INSANE!!! His timing is just superb!!! Plus the defense of Nonoy Baclao was something else!!! GRABE!!! Plus he had a buzzer beating trey to top his performance!!! Sweet!!! And Captain Kirk!!! People may not notice it but his defensive skills are out of this world awesome!!! I like the hustle from the Monfort too. And Oping played well today.

I missed the shotgun celebration of Jai... I was too busy jumping. Hahahaha. Jai and Ryan Buenafe drained the shots today! WOW! Plus I gotta give it to Ryan, he's getting his rhythm back! And sometimes, the players shouldn't be bullied just like that. Ryan is the type who won't back down. Good job!

Some things I don't like... Rabeh should just keep his cool. Arrrgh. He has to think of the next games! We need him! Plus rebounds! We're number 7 in terms of rebounding. What's up with that??? Refs were too obvious. I'm sorry.

Coach Norman is just the best. I love his rotation. He simply knows what to do.

So now, it's time to defend the title!!!

ONE BIG FIGHT!!!

What do you think guys?

Youth Volunteers for Tito Noy Needed

Hi everyone!

You can comment here if you're interested :)

I'll be helping out with the campaign real soon.

Once finalized, I'll post it here :)

My Ateneo Dream Team Lineup

I was really into the UAAP Seniors Games during the 99-00 Season. If I'm not mistaken, it was the last season to be shown on PTV4. Yes. There was a PTV4. It's now called NBN.

So anyway, my first ever Seniors Game was at the Cuneta Astrodome. July 31, 1999. Saint Ignatius Day. Against DLSU. Ateneo won that day and it was a long time since Ateneo defeated the Green Archers.

The players then were the ones I really grew up with. Enrico and Wesley were sophomores. Rich was a rookie.

Just to keep everyone on the same page. I grew up idolizing the "Legends" so this is entirely MY opinion ok? Hahaha. If I missed your favorite players, no offense.

If I have 16 players...

My starting 5 would be.

PG - LA Tenorio
SG - Larry Fonacier
SF - Wesley Gonzales
PF - Rich Alvarez
C - Enrico Villanueva

Bench

SG/SF - Chris Tiu (Gotta have my batchmate there! And we need the 3s!)
SG/SF - Magnum Membrere (Mags' got a lot of fight in him, kung hindi lang na-ACL...)
PF/C - Nonoy Baclao (Nuff Said)
C - Japeth Aguilar (Showtime dunks? Blocks? Anyone?)
PG - Macky Escalona (Game 3, Finals vs UST. Wow!)
PG/SG - Eric Salamat (Gotta be the best in getting steals... seriously. Lupit!)
SF/PF - JC Intal (The ROCKET!)
C - Ford Arao (Mamaw!!! Gotta love Ford!!!)
SF - Ryan Buenafe (This kid is made of awesome!)
PF/C - Paolo Bugia (Bugs has the shooting skillz)
PF - Zion Laterre (This guy works like a horse! Zion Ion Power!)

Extended Bench - Rainier Sison, Gec Chia, Jai Reyes, Yuri Escueta, Rabeh Al-Hussaini

Coach - Norman Black assisted by Sandy Arespacochaga

Courtside Reporter - Hmmm... Patty, Lia, or Jessica? =/

I gotta give this one to Patty Laurel. (Lia, friends pa din tayo! Hall of fame ka naman eh, hehehe)

Commentators - Jude "Kaboom" Turcuato and TJ "Everyone's twidol" Manotoc

Ateneo-FEU Round 2

Sadly I wasn't able to watch the game live but I was able to catch the 2nd half on TV. I was coming down from Eden and we got stuck along the mountain because of heavy rains. But thankfully, I got to see the game on TV.

The 3rd quarter was just terrible. So many missed opportunities! Especially the free throws!

I was with my good friend and blockmate Mich and we were just so sad with the way the game was going. Paul Sanga was killing us!!!

So we decided to go down to Eagles bar since it opens at 6pm. (Start of the 4th quarter) It was just us watching. I don't know how it happened, but slowly and surely, Ateneo converted with great plays! Jainamite scored HUGE in the 4th and I have to admit I loved the shotgun antics celebration he did. Hahaha.

It was a squeaker of a ball game. Down to the final seconds. Reil Cervantes missed the 2nd and crucial free throw. Ateneo then got the rebound to hold on to victory!

I gotta hand it to Nonoy Baclao. 12pts. 17reb. 3blk. 2stl. Now those are awesome stats!

So it'll be against UST this coming Sunday. If Ateneo wins, they get to defend the crown!!! Sigh... I really do hope for a back2back (sorry to the non-Ateneo fans but I'm a true blue).

What I liked about the game was the never say die attitude! I have to give it to the pocket rocket, Eman Monfort. The guy's got heart!

There were times a few years back wherein the Hail Mary Squad lost it's attitude. I think they were too pampered. But it's different now. Blue Eagles got heart!

The biggest factor in the next games will be Ryan Buenafe. I know he'll step up. He has to explode again sooner or later.

Go Ateneo! One Big Fight! =)

For the love of country...

This was taken during my Lolo Ninoy's funeral in 1983. Things can be compared to today but I think what differentiated 1983 to 2009 was that people were sort of angry in 1983. They were all tired of the dictatorship and this was the turning point.

In some ways, my Lola's death can also be a turning point for many of us. I believe she did something to make us proud of being Filipinos. She let us go back to prayer and she made us love the Philippines more.

People felt that they lost a great leader who was clean, simple, honest, good-willed and faithful. It wasn't like that for our family though. We lost our mother, pillar, and anchor... She was our source of strength and wisdom.

I wish I knew what love for country was in my grandparents' definition... I believe it's something gained through time or experiencing a life-changing moment.

I don't know what the future holds but what I do know is that my grandparents left my family a legacy. They taught my family integrity, honesty, true public service, and they emulated love for country... My family holds those values. You may not get to see it 24/7 but what's important is that the foundation is there.

We are all part of TEAM PILIPINAS. All of us Filipinos are part of one country with such high potential for greatness.

Let's go T.E.A.M. Pilipinas!!! Together, Everyone Achieves More!!!

Mabuhay tayong lahat!!!

Visiting the Daily Bugle

This was back in 2007. My last vacation... After that, campaign and then work work work!

So it was just me, Jonty, and Kiko in New York. Traveling without adults. Well, I was 21 back then so Jonty and Kiko were traveling with an "adult"

I did my own Spider-Man tour but I really wanted to see the Flat Iron building aka "The Daily Bugle". Jonty and I walked A LOT since the cabs were too expensive... I wanted to visit the Moondance Diner but couldn't find it. I did go where Uncle Ben was shot. That was in front of the New York Library. Oh yeah, plus I saw Oscorp Building :)

This was probably my best vacation. It was New York City! The comic book capital of the world plus it's where the Marvel U is!!! Hahahaha.

Deal or No Deal

I was going through some old photos and I saw some pictures from the Deal or No Deal Cory Episode. My friend Drew took pictures from the TV.

Asar talo ako from Jonty, Miguel, and Nina because I opened a briefcase that contained a HUGE amount... It was the 1 Million Peso Briefcase. It was Briefcase #7.

Oh crap... I let Lola down... =(

At the back is Father Manny Domingo, Ninang, Mom, Miguel, Jonty and Me
Below is a friend of Jia, Jia, My 2nd Cousin Tiger, Tita Viel, Josh, and Mel

Lola passed a lot of briefcases to us and we kept on opening huge amounts. Miguel got the Piso Briefcase though. Tita Kris naawa na sa amin so she said "Mom, they'll never live it down... You have to be the one to open" Even then on, Lola still saved us... Grabe.

It was funny, the last 2 amounts were 400 and 500... We were scared that if it were 500, it would have been Lolo Ninoy! But Lola won 400 bucks and after the taping, she immediately got the 400. Hahahaha.

This was a fun day despite opening the 1 Million Peso briefcase. =)

Lola's Paintings

I was fortunate enough to get Lola's artwork. I feel so blessed that she gave me her very first painting. It was my birthday. She said since I was the eldest apo, I got to have #1. Miguel got #2, Jonty #3 and so on...

She loved to paint! I think it was a stress reliever for her. She'd usually paint roses, gardens, well... mostly flowers. It was towards the latter years wherein she started dong abstract.

S0 below is painting #1. There's really no title but my mom unofficially called it "Hurricane" since her brush strokes were in different directions :)

Painting #1

The painting below she did especially for me. Since I was a UAAP fanatic, she made this painting of Blue and Green roses.

War of the Roses: Ateneo vs. La Salle

She was just an awesome Lola! She knew how to make her apos feel special... I still miss her so very much... I think about her everyday.

Thanks for your art Lola. Thank you for your reminders on how much you loved us...

On looking for "Mary Jane"

So I was looking at the @jiggycruz function of my twitter and I can't help but answer this tweet. I was asked "are you still looking for your Mary Jane?"

For those who don't know, I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE Spider-Man fan. He's the superhero I can relate to the most. Promise.

So I just had to answer it. I said that I won't look/search for "Mary Jane" anymore. She'll just come. After all, Peter Parker was after someone else during that time and it was Aunt May who set him up with MJ. So MJ surprised Peter... "Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot!"

"Mary Jane" is someone who comes along and surprises you. I don't know. Maybe I have met a Mary Jane already... Maybe not.

My life has changed a lot and people want to get to know me and the rest of my family some more. People are curious. So with this, I'd like to answer something...

I'm single but I'm really not looking for someone right now. I don't think it'll be fair for the girl. After all, I'm still grieving plus I have my family, career, and friends. It wouldn't be fair since I won't have enough time. It doesn't mean I don't want a Mary Jane. Like I said, I won't look, she'll just come. If "MJ" is tied down, then she's tied down... for now... I hope... Hahahaha kidding. But yeah, she'll come along, and besides, I'm still young.

For the other tweets, I can't answer everything because some questions just keep on repeating. Plus there are some sensitive questions I really can't answer. So if you follow me on twitter and on this blog, and you haven't been answered. I'm sorry. I really can't answer everything :(

it sucks...

I was talking to some friends and we were talking about the things that absolutely suck big time.

1. Death in the family, Death of a loved one
2. Getting rejected
3. Failing

Other than that, what came up was "liking someone and then finding out that she/he is taken" - YON! Hahahaha. That absolutely sucks. Why? Because you have to make a decision. To wait it out or not. What if you wait for nothing? It makes it more interesting though... You have certain personalities that say "mas madaling hulihin ang manok na nakatali" (it's easier to catch a chicken that's tied down)

But that's not honorable... No integrity and respect either.

It only makes life more interesting right?

I guess you just have to enjoy the ride.
